There are a few things that may cause this issue.

Here are a some of them that we would suggest to check first:
1. Make sure that IIS is installed on the machine (on XP Professional IIS is not installed by default)
2. If IIS is installed, make sure that the IIS service is started (open IIS Management Console and check the status)
3. Make sure that the logged account that runs the installer has enough rights to create a web app on IIS (you may ...

9.How are effective lines of code computed?
Posted by alpha_TechIS on 5/22/2008 11:17:35 PM
The effective lines of code are measured using the following method:

1. Get the number of lines of code
2. Subtract whitespace lines
3. Subtract comment lines
4. Subtract the lines that contains only block constructs (for example in C# begin block construct is the character '{' while end block construct is the character '}'.

For the following C# code snippet

public decimal foo(decimal source)

Posted by alpha_TechIS on 3/9/2008 12:03:12 PM
A good practice before invoking the code generation engine is to validate the processing instructions.

The following actions are performed by the processing instructions validator:
1. Check table and column processing instructions to make sure that they are valid
2. Check for required table and column processing instructions

A table or column processing instruction may become invalid dues to database schema changed. For example, we ...

Posted by alpha_techis on 2/29/2008 7:55:31 AM
Use the FieldName Processing Instruction to assign a name, other than the column name, to the Field and Property that will be generated from a particular column.

For instance, given the set {“a123”, “a1234”, “a1235”}, and the following wildcard patters: {“a*”, “a123?”} the matching results will be {“a123”, “a1234”, “a1235”} and {“a1234”, “a1235”} respectively.
19.EntityName Processing Instruction Description
Posted by alpha_TechIS on 2/28/2008 10:26:47 PM
The presence of the EntityName instruction informs the code generation engine that the name of the generated entities (in DAL and BL) will be based on the specified EntityName value, not the actual table name.

At most one EntityName processing instruction can be assigned to a table. To avoid name clashing, the values associate to EntityName processing instructions should be unique at the database level. Also, these values should not be the same as the name of a table that ...
20.RefTypeMarker Processing Instruction Description
Posted by alpha_techis on 2/24/2008 10:00:23 AM
When the RefTypeMarker Processing Instruction is specified, additional stored procedures and methods are generated that will make it easier to use reference tables (Static tables).

In the AdventureWorks database that comes with SQL Server 2005, two examples of reference tables are the AddressType and ContactType tables.

In the NorthWind database that comes with SQL Server 2000, the best example of a reference table is the Region table.
